Specialty Dermal Fillers in Fort Lauderdale & Miami

At Forever Young MedSpa in Cooper City, right outside of Fort Lauderdale, dermal fillers are a procedure that we literally do every day. As a pioneer in medical aesthetics, we offer only FDA-approved specialty dermal fillers.

As we age, wrinkles and fine lines are only half the battle, and oftentimes, our faces lose volume. Most of our patients aren’t ready for invasive surgery like a facelift—nor do they need it! Dermal fillers are an excellent solution to help you look and feel Forever Young!

Our patients find that we offer some of the best dermal fillers in Ft. Lauderdale, and have a record of exceeding expectations. We proudly see patients all over South Florida, including but not limited to Ft. Lauderdale, Cooper City, Miramar, Pembroke Pines, Davie, Plantation, Hollywood, Sunrise, Weston & SW Ranches, and Miami.

Below, we’ve included information on the treatment, but if you’d like to schedule a consultation or have any questions, please contact us today!

What are Dermal Fillers?

Let’s start with the basics! Typically fillers use hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a natural substance found in your body. Since these filters aren’t made using animal sources, allergy testing is not needed prior to your treatment. Other, heavier, dermal fillers use a compound called Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) that’s found naturally in our bones.

Restylane is our go-to dermal filler. It’s a safe and natural cosmetic filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). Forever Young MedSpa offers Restylane in Fort Lauderdale, along with other injectable and dermal filler treatments.

What is Restylane?

Restylane is the first cosmetic dermal filler made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin.

The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA (Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid). NASHA is biodegradable and fully biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.

Unlike rooster-derived hyaluronic acid-based products, Restylane is free from animal proteins. This quality limits the risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction.

Restylane contains trace amounts of gram-positive bacterial proteins and should not be used by patients with a history of allergies to such materials. Additionally, Restylane lasts about 6 months.

Restylane has been used by dermatologists and plastic surgeons since 1996 worldwide. There is a limited risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction. Restylane is fully biocompatible and allergy testing is not required.

Where Can Restylane be used?

In the US, the FDA has approved Restylane injections for facial wrinkles and folds like the ones from the nose to the corners of the mouth. Restylane has been used in more than 3 million treatments in over 60 countries to correct a variety of wrinkles. Forever Young Medspa will consult with you prior to injection regarding common treatment areas, including under the eyes for tear troughs and around the lips for perioral lip lines.

Restylane Recovery

After your treatment, no recovery or downtime is required, but you might have some redness or swelling. This will normally last less than 7 days. Sunbathing and cold outdoor activities should be avoided until any redness or swelling disappears. You should not be treated with Restylane if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under age 18.

How Long Does Restylane Last?

Restylane is proven to leave long-lasting results. Studies have shown that Restylane effects generally last for about six months. Restylane’s stabilization technology helps maintain the cosmetic effect until the injected material is nearly gone.

How often Should I Have Restylane Treatments Done?

Treatments are typically scheduled twice a year. Having a follow-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated may enhance the lasting effect.

With Sculptra® wrinkle filler, patients can achieve beautiful, lasting improvements to wrinkles and fine lines through a simple series of three injections. This wrinkle filler treatment is ideal for individuals interested in softening the signs of aging without having to undergo periodic injections to maintain their results.

Sculptra® isn’t your average dermal filler; instead of bringing short-term improvements to wrinkles, fine lines, and volume loss, Sculptra® can provide patients with two years of wrinkle correction after a series of three injection sessions. This makes Sculptra® perfect for patients interested in achieving long-term, natural-looking corrections to the signs of aging.

Immediately after receiving a Sculptra® injection, patients are able to see some improvements in the appearance of their wrinkles and fine lines as Sculptra® pushes up and swells the skin. But these quick results are just the beginning: in the days and weeks following treatment, these poly-L-lactic microparticles gradually begin to replace collagen in the deep dermis, constructing a long-lasting collagen framework.

Because the natural depletion of collagen that occurs with age is one of the most common causes of wrinkles and fine lines, Sculptra® improves the signs of aging from the inside out.

Sculptra’s approach is what makes it so beneficial. This is also the reason it has become quite commonly preferred by cosmetic professionals. Sculptra offers a number of advantages:

  • It is a non-surgical way of treating aging signs in the skin.
  • Sculptra can help achieve a non-surgical Brazillian Butt lift
  • It stimulates the creation of new collagen that can bring about a fuller and more youthful look.
  • It enhances the tone of the skin.
  • It can help to plump out cheeks that are hollow and treat folds in the skin.
  • It can treat sunken eyes.
  • Its results are subtle and happen gradually over a period of time.
  • Its effects last much longer than other injectable products.

Radiesse can be used for multiple parts of the face. Many patients love it for lip enhancement, to improve wrinkles in areas like the smile lines (or nasolabial folds), augment and contour the cheeks, enhance the chin, contour the jawline, address acne scars, and rejuvenate the backs of the hands.

As we age, we start to lose fat in our faces, and it is often most noticeable in the cheek area. Radiesse is an ideal filler for adding volume to cheeks because it can be used to treat large surface areas in one procedure. The result of this cheek filler is a healthy-looking contoured appearance common in more youthful cheeks.

Additionally, as skin loses elasticity over time and gravity pulls facial muscles downward, the jawline is one of the most common facial areas where aging becomes apparent. Radiesse is an excellent choice to re-shape and contour the jawline and chin. The result is a smoother, firmer jawline that mirrors the younger-looking appearance of other facial areas treated with Radiesse.

How long does it last? Published independent studies show that a typical treatment for malar and submalar augmentation lasts approximately 18 months to two years, with an occasional touchup recommended.

With this injectable filler, you don’t have to wait to see results – they are immediate and long-lasting!

Juvederm injectable gel is a smooth gel filler your doctor eases under your skin to instantly smooth out those folds along the sides of your nose and mouth.

It can easily fill parentheses lines on the cheeks and marionette lines stretching down from the sides of the mouth. Juvederm can also be used to fill tear troughs under the eyes and as a lip filler to enhance thin lips. Results are not just instant, they are so smooth and natural that only you will know!

Juvederm Voluma XC

We are excited to introduce Juvederm Voluma XC for Fort Lauderdale patients. This new FDA-approved filler is the latest treatment from Allergan and was specifically designed to target lack of volume and sagging skin, offering a subtle lift to the face. Juvederm Voluma XC is the first and only FDA-approved filler for adding volume to the cheek area.

The injectable gel formula uses hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the skin, and requires little to no downtime or recovery time. Hyaluronic acid bonds with water molecules to create new lasting volume in the skin tissues.

Juvéderm Voluma XC uses Allergan’s Vycross technology that results in a smooth gel. It also contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to help numb the area during an injection procedure. The filler is specifically designed to lift sagging areas. What makes it different is that it uses a lower-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid that allows for increased cross-linking, giving the product an ideal lift capacity for the midface.

A treatment session typically takes around 30 minutes or less. At the start of the treatment process, the injection sites are marked as a guide for the injector. Next, the Voluma injections are carefully delivered. Because of the lidocaine, the region is numbed to any pain or discomfort.

How long does it last? Patients can see results from a single Juvederm Voluma XC soon after treatment, and results can last up to two years. Clinical results demonstrated that almost 50 percent of patients were maintaining optimal correction at two years. Similarly, patients demonstrated clinically significant results after almost three years. Patients received touch-up treatment after 30 days as necessary and were followed up at one month, three months, and then quarterly for up to two years, according to the study.

90 percent of patients reported feeling that they appeared, on average, five years younger at six months based on analysis of patient diaries. As far out as two years, patient satisfaction was at 76 percent.

Belotero is a new dermal filler in the U.S. made of non-animal hyaluronic acid. It is known as “the smoother solution” and unlike other Hyaluronic fillers like Juvederm & Radiesse, Belotero can be used superficially for fine lines in and around the face. Belotero can effectively treat many types of wrinkles such as:

  • Forehead lines
  • Crows feet
  • Horizontal neck creases
  • Under-eye wrinkles and depressions
  • Smile and laugh lines

The unique characteristics of Belotero enable it to address fine lines. Because it is quite thin and light, it can be injected superficially without the risk of lumpiness appearing on the skin’s surface. Often, patients would still see lines etched on their skin after Botox & Dysport. With the help of Belotero, we can use Botox & Dysport in moderate amounts to relax facial muscles, allowing patients to retain their natural facial mobility and expressions. Belotero can then treat any fine lines remaining after the procedure.

Because Belotero does not elicit the Tyndall effect, (bluish tint in areas injected) it can be used for under-eye depressions and wrinkles.

Also prior to the advent of Belotero, cosmetic solutions for horizontal neck creases were very limited. However, Belotero can be injected to provide substantial improvement for this issue, depending on how deep the creases are.

Dermal Fillers FAQs

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural complex sugar found in all living cells, and one of the major components of the dermis connective tissue matrix, along with collagen and elastin.

HA retains water like a sponge, absorbing more than 1,000 times its weight. This helps to attract and maintain water, hydrating your skin and increasing its volume and density. Juvederm has thus been designed to aid in wrinkle correction.

What is a wrinkle?

With time, exposure to the sun, and other elements, skin components break down. The skin loses structure and volume. Unwelcome lines and wrinkles appear. Healthcare professionals now can correct wrinkles and facial folds using Juvederm injections to reverse the signs of aging.

How wrinkles are corrected?

The appearance of wrinkles and facial folds can be smoothed by adding structure and volume underneath and bringing sunken skin back up to the surface. Generally, this is done by injecting materials into the skin to achieve a temporary effect.

Are Dermal Fillers Safe?

When administered by a trained professional, you can be sure that the materials have been proven safe to use. No recovery time or downtime is required.

The most common adverse effects seen during the clinical trial were injection site tenderness, bruising, redness, discoloration, swelling, lumps/bumps, firmness, itching, and pain that lasted approximately two to four weeks.

How Many syringes are needed?

Depending on a patient’s age, multiple syringes will likely be needed to replace volume lost over years of aging.

What Is the Difference Between Juvederm and Juvederm Voluma XC?

Juvederm is administered to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face. It helps smooth out moderate to severe wrinkles that form around the nose and mouth from aging. Juvederm Voluma XC specifically targets loss of volume in the cheeks to provide a subtle lift and reduce the signs of aging. Thus, Voluma is typically the best filler option for addressing hollow cheeks.
